A series of bis (methylcyclopentadienyl) aryloxymetallic derivatives were synthesized by the reaction of bis (methylcyclopentadienyl) titanium dichloride, zirconium and hafnium with substituted phenols in the presence of a base. They react with hydrohalic acids such as HF, HCI, HBr and HI to form the corresponding metal bis (methylcyclopentadienyl) dihalide. The electronegativity of the metal, the electronegativity of the substituents on the benzene ring and the number of substituents are discussed.
