《易·贲·彖传》区分天文与人文道:“柔来而文刚,故亨。分,刚上而文柔,故小利有攸往。(刚柔交错)天文也;文明以止,人文也。观乎天文,以察时变;观乎人文,以化成天下。”“分”指刚柔之别:阳卦之艮在上,阴卦之离在下。引申为君臣分职,男女分务。贲的卦象乃柔文饰刚兼刚文饰柔。艮、离两卦分指适可而止以及文明。贲卦旨在文化教育令人止于美善。《商易(归藏)》此卦作荧惑,乃火星,强调离卦象征之一“火”。陆
