Hyperventilation is the effective activation of clinically dementia seizures that induce widespread spikes and waves. During hyperventilation in children, a common high-amplitude δ activity, consistently considered a normal developmental phenomenon. The authors reported 7 children who had confirmed recurrent clinical absences with extensive high-amplitude rhythmic δ-activity discharge induced by hyperventilation or spontaneous. Methods All 7 patients had a primary complaint of staring a small or no reaction. During hyperventilation, all patients were observed to have clinically non-responsive minor episodes, but not extensive spikes or spikes, whereas extensive high-amplitude rhythmic events were long-range. Thereafter, an additional clinical electrophysiological study was performed, and for some patients a 6-hour EEG and television
