From the secondary school students’ perspective, this paper briefly reviews the research activities of Shishou National elk nature reserve and its implication. It points out that the construction of nature reserves is of great significance to maintain the ecological balance of wetlands and restore the elk population. It is suggested that we should learn from the developed countries such as Australia Environmental education experience, expand the social welfare function of nature reserves, set up environmental practice education base for elementary and middle school students in Shishou Elk Nature Reserve, and cultivate awareness of environmental protection among primary and secondary school students. I. INTRODUCTION I am deeply in love with Thoreau’s poetry: “I walk into the jungle because I want to make sense of life. I want to live a profound life and take in all the essence of my life.”
