明代花鸟画的画风体制较多,概括起来有三大系统:一是以边文进、吕纪为代表的传统的工笔设色画风;二是以林良、陈淳、徐渭为代表的写意画风;三是以周之冕为代表的工写结合的“勾花点叶”画风。其中以写意画风特别是徐渭开创的水墨大写意画法,影响深远。清代的八大山人以及“扬州八怪”诸家均由此法演化而出,它预示着中国花鸟画又一个发展高峰的来临。

The Bada Mountain people in the Qing Dynasty and the “Eight Eccentrics in Yangzhou” all evolved from this method, which indicates the advent of another peak of Chinese bird painting.
