Foreword So far, at least there may be at least two landowners and tenant-peasants relations in Southeast Asia. One is the relationship between the guardians and the guardians based on the class differences between landowners and tenant farmers under the landlord system; the other is the comparatively reciprocal relationship between the small-scale land-owners and tenant farmers based on kinship and geography . Malaysia’s tenancy relationship can be said to be an example of the latter. Under this mutual assistance, the tenant plowing contract is not only an economic contract that depends on the factors of production of land, but also a financially compatible tenancy relationship that depends on the rural social structure.
