The increasing uncertainties in the global textile market outlook, in line with the global credit crisis and the slowdown in economic growth in the United States and Europe, will impact retail sales of ready-made garments. A sharp devaluation of the dollar, rising crude oil prices and impending lifting of China’s textile exports to Europe all announce major changes. Affected by the slowdown of the U.S. economy, businesses will have the result of a slump in retail sales. The EU will impose restrictions on the cancellation of textile products from mainland China next year and the United States will follow up next year. As the United States and Europe may set new trade barriers, the liberalization of the textile trade may trigger a drastic change in global purchasing trends.
