Objective: To explore the choice of surgical procedures for pancreatic cancer. Methods: Three pancreatic cancer patients underwent total pancreatectomy from August 1997 to February 1998. RESULTS: All three patients recovered well after surgery without severe complications. Except one case died of hepatic metastasis 6 months after operation, the other 2 cases were still alive after 5 months and 9 months follow-up, no metastasis signs, and good quality of life. Conclusion: The authors believe that with the continuous improvement of surgical skills, preoperative and postoperative care, and the level of care, the indication for total pancreatectomy should also expand, and the surgical treatment and survival of pancreatic cancer will be improved.
