中国在七十年代培育成功的杂交水稻,已在七千万亩农田上种植,并显示了旺盛的生命力,估计增产三十五亿公斤稻谷。国际水稻研究中心在菲律宾举行的一九七九年年会上,两位中国学者所作的有关杂交水稻问题的学术报告,引起了来自世界各地二百多位水稻专家的极大兴趣。
The successful hybrid rice cultivation in China in the 1970s has been planted on 70 million mu of farmland and has shown great vitality with an estimated 3.5 billion kilograms of paddy. At the 1979 Annual Conference of the International Rice Research Center in the Philippines, the academic report by the two Chinese scholars on the issue of hybrid rice aroused great interest from more than 200 rice specialists from all over the world.
