仙人掌类植物的繁殖,习惯多用扦插法繁殖。但也有人用播种来培育小苗。此法虽麻烦,但比较经济,一次可得数量较多的种苗,也比较容易增加新的品种。在播种实生苗中,还常可发现一些珍奇变异的单株。因此,播种法在仙人掌类植物的繁殖中始终占有一定的位置。一、开花、授粉的特性仙人掌类植物在人工栽培中,特别是在室内栽培时,由于缺乏传粉的昆虫与小动物,往往开花但不能受精结实。仙人掌类植物中除了少数白花授粉可以结实的种类及闭花受精产生种子的管花柱属(Cleistocatus)种类外,大部分种类部是白花授粉不结实的。如仙人球属、锦绣玉属的多数种类以及星球属、昙花属及蟹爪属等。
