In this paper, a large deformation elasto-plastic finite element method is used to simulate the train wheel pre-forming process. The influence of friction state on wheel forging deformation was analyzed. It is further confirmed that there is a theory of split surface in the deformation process of the billet. The equivalent strain distribution of each step of the wheel preforming process was obtained
