Chip giant Intel in early December last year announced support for Microsoft’s new operating system Windows CE and into the handheld computer market, so the Windows CE platform gained great momentum. Buyers who remove Intel and Windows CE devices can also choose between platforms based on Advanced RISC Machines (ARM) chips and Motorola’s Power PC processors. Microsoft is working with ARM, DEC and Cirrus Logic to link Windows CE with their respective processors. For months, Microsoft and Intel have been working with the operating system on the connection to Intel’s ultra-low-power Intel 486SX, formerly known as Hummingbird, and the work is expected to be completed in January 1997. Microsoft and Intel also have Windows CE and Pentium processors
