Life is like passing a door, a door representing a world. In ancient China, reading and reading well can be famous and rich. In contemporary China, changing fate through reading is still the only way for the vast majority of Chinese children. Entrance is a door, graduation is looking for a job. The inflection point of these lives is extremely important to the common people. However, for the society, it is more the cold figures and the big and small setbacks. I just wanted to go deep into the depths of these times and figures with my camera and see what happened at the junction of the plates. From east to west, from north to south, cameras cross cities and villages, as well as different individuals. This is a documentary presenting the contemporary phenomenon of education in a concentrated manner and an interpretation of the “Chinese Dream” that is embodied behind education. From the college entrance exam in western China to a huge pressure on the city, the structure of the cross is to fix the phenomenon behind the phenomenon of things. By borrowing the concept of “door,” we try to find a constant Chinese era beyond our time, as well as highlighting the struggling little dreamers.
