“上有天堂,下有苏杭”。苏州是中国现存历史最悠久的城市之一,也是长三角经济圈中一颗冉冉升起的明星。自20世纪80年代起,数以百万计的流动人口给这座温婉的园林城市增添新色,也给这座古香古色的城市注入了多元文化的活力。2009年以来,苏州市经济总量跃居全国第五,位列全国所有地级市第一。截至2013年,苏州市常住人口达1300万,其中少数民族人口达18.61万,56个民族成分齐全。此外,外来常住人口多于本地户籍人口,苏州成为仅次于深圳的全国第二大移民城市。
