章声,字子鹤,又字子闻、紫渊,晚号俭斋,斋署屏山阁、鹤年堂、白华草堂,(均见其画款及印鉴),史载其为仁和籍,自称钱塘人,因二地名皆为浙江杭州之旧称,故章声当为杭州人。父亲章谷为明末清初画家,兄长章采亦名画家。章谷工画山水,善写真,父子三人皆有画名,子承父艺,名噪杭州虎林,据周亮工《读画录》中记载:“子子鹤、子真(章谷)皆以画名。同时父子兄弟皆以画名者,推秣陵盛氏。虎林之章,秣陵之盛,人恒并称之。”~1故有“虎林章氏”之誉。
