为了培养具有较高素质的人才,我校近年来的本科教学过程中强化了专业英语的教学。以前的专业英语教学往往是老师在课堂上将要求学生掌握的单词写一遍、念一遍了事。由于教学方法简单,加上专业英语相对较难记忆,因而学生普遍反映压力大,专业英语难学,往往是花了大量的时间却收效甚微。为此我们在这方面作了一些探索,主要作法是:1.加强英文单词词根的教学。专业英语单词大多是由来自英语、拉丁语或希腊语的词根构成的合成词,有些词根也在其它课程的专业英语中甚至在公共英语中出现。故我们在教学过程中首先引导学生正确分析单词词根,这样很容易就能熟悉具有相同词根的一类单词。2.反复强化记忆。要求学生课前预习,课后复习,尽可能地“挤”出时间温习已学过的词根及其组合,进一步熟练掌握所学的知识。3.采取灵活的教学手段。除了课堂教学以外,我们还利用黑板报、知识竞赛、指导学生翻译专业文献等方式强化专业英语的教学。上述方法的采用,使学生用较少的时间就能迅速掌握一系列相关的单词,同时还把学习组胚专业英语和学习其它课程的专业英语以及公共英语有机地结合起来,提高了学习效率,收到了事半功倍之效果,不仅在组胚考试的英文名词解释题的答题中正确率大幅度增加,而且已经有不少
