Jacinto Octavio Picón is one of Spain’s most prolific writers of the nineteenth century. His novels feature republicanism, liberal thought, political orientation and ethics and religion. At the same time, the first generation of feminism, which originated in the French bourgeois revolution, started in Europe. Unlike most of the writers of the time, Piquet was influenced by feminism. He often shaped some “imperfect” female images in literary works, who pursued freedom or longing for love but excluding marriage. However, such women in the real life of Spain in the 19th century are not accepted by the public, so Pigeon is also known as the “pioneer of feminism.” By analyzing five specific literary works, this thesis studies and studies the female characteristics and their social significance in his works.
