苏州(包括周边郊县)是一块文化昌盛的风水宝地,既孕育了入选世界级非物质文化遗产名录的昆曲,也诞生了入选国家级非物质文化遗产名录的苏州弹词,而且,还诞生了一些各具地方风味的宣卷。由于方言不同、曲调不同,因此称谓也不同,传至今日比较著名的有锦溪宣卷、同里宣卷、胜浦宣卷等,这些产生于苏州各地的宣卷可统称为苏州宣卷。苏州弹词和苏州宣卷存在于同一个传播空间,具有相互影响的可能。
