公路路政管理,是指公路管理机构根据国家法律、法规和规章,为维护路产、路权,对公路进行的行政管理。随着城乡商品生产和流通的不断发展,公路遭受社会的侵害日益严重,公路投资效益的提高日益依赖路政管理工作的加强。只有克服“重建轻养,重养轻管”的思想,才能适应高等级公路车辆快速度通过的需要,使公路在原有的技术等级范围内充分发挥它的使用效益。
