我是一九三七年十月在武汉时认识冼星海同志的。当时我在武汉基督教青年会学生救济会,这是由董必武同志促进青年会部分爱国人士成立的一个救济流亡学生的机构。十月十五日黄秀玑女士请来冼星海同志教我们唱歌,指导我们学习指挥。在武汉他没有固定的职业,生活很清苦,但他积极热情地发展救亡歌咏运动,到各处去指导群众唱歌,讲授指挥方法,不辞辛苦的为开展抗日救亡新音乐运动而奔忙,给我的印象是非常深刻的。记得那时他穿着一件深、浅古铜色夹着织的呢子西装上衣,天气再冷一点时加了一件黑色的棉外套,脖子上围了一条绒围巾。他只有
