本品为菊科(Compositae)植物蒼耳Xanthium sibiricum Patrin(X.strumarium L.)的干燥帶苞片果实。本品在我国各处均有分佈;南至广东,北至河北、东北。【原植物】原野自生的一年生草本植物。莖直立,可达2公尺,近根部为紫色,向上則为綠色帶紫色斑点痘ド?三角形,有較少的紫色斑点,叶3—5淺裂,边緣有不规則的鋸齿,叶基心臟形,網狀脉,可見三条明显的叶脉。春夏吋,叶腋及莖端生头狀花序,花單性,同株。雄花序球狀;总苞小,一列;花管狀,5齿裂,花托圓柱狀,有鱗片。雌花序綠色,卵形,总苞片2或3列,外列小,內2列大,連合成一个二室的卵形硬体,外面有鈞刺,頂端具有兩条圓錐狀的突起;小花二朶,無花冠,子房在总苞体內,每室有一个,花柱成形,突出于总苞外。瘦果倒卵形,包藏于有钧剌的总苞內,無冠
