Objective To investigate the factors that affect the retention of apheresis platelets. Methods From January 1, 2015 to December 31, 2015, 10 160 donors who successfully donated platelets to Beijing Blood Center were enrolled in this study. The characteristics of each donor were collected, that is, blood donation age, sex , Blood donation status (first time, non-first time) and whether there was an adverse reaction to blood donation, and analyzed the relationship between the two variables related to blood donor retention in the next year, namely, blood donation again (yes, no) and the number of repeated donations. Results The return rate of blood donation (26.4%) in young blood donors (26.4%) was lower than that of non-young blood donors (47.2%), the number of blood donors returned after return was low. The return rate of female blood donors (22.5%) was lower than that of male donors (3.5%), and the number of blood donations after returning was low. The return rate of primary blood donors (24.3%) was significantly lower than that of non-primary blood donors (58.8%), and the number of blood donations returned after return was lower (P < 0.001). The occurrence of adverse reactions was not related to the return of blood donors (P> 0.05). Conclusion Young, female, initial blood donation is negatively correlated with the return of blood donors. Proposed for these three types of blood donors to take appropriate measures to increase apheresis retention rate.
