Polytetrafluoroethylene powder, which when mixed with a suitable lubricant, produces a smooth extrudates at room temperature, G.R.Snelliny and J.F. Lontz, describe the rheological properties of the flax. Their experimental model can be used in the actual extrusion process and its recommendations improve process design. This experimental model provides a useful continuous description of the pinnate extrusion, which almost reflects the full characteristics of the pinnate. Electron microscopy studies reveal the complex network of particles and interconnected fibrils produced during extrusion. The fundamental understanding of this fiber-forming process will further advance the polytetrafluoroethylene pinch-out technique.
