The Earthquake Disaster Hazard Index (EDRI) is a composite index that directly compares the overall magnitude of the earthquake hazard in each city in the world and provides the relative magnitude of the impact of various factors on the overall hazard of the earthquake hazard. The basic steps for establishing an EDRI are: (1) to establish a conceptual framework for all factors that have an impact on the devastating effects of an earthquake disaster, including geology, engineering, economics, society, politics and culture; (2) identify a set of simple measurable ; (3) systematically combining these indicators into a comprehensive EDRI; and (4) expressing the index results in an easy to understand way. This holistic, multidisciplinary index has been established to organically combine the knowledge of the harmful effects of all urban earthquakes into an easy-to-understand, easily understood index that is currently unavailable from other sources.
