The famous American acoustics scientist and educator Professor Newman died on October 3, 1983, which is a major loss to the acoustic community. Chinese acoustics circle is as sorry as acoustic circles in other countries. The only thing that comforts us is that Professor Newman was invited to visit our country shortly before his death and get together with our acoustic community to give us wonderful acoustics lessons and conduct discussions so that we have benefited greatly. Today, we put Newman’s lectures in Beijing lectures and discussions on the main contents published, on the one hand
