鞣质又称鞣酸,是一类复杂的高分子多酚类化合物能与蛋白质结合,具有涩味和收剑性。因其化学结构而分为二大类,一类为可水解鞣质;另一类为缩合鞣质。这也是植物中普遍存在的成份,由于鞣质的分子量较大,给中药制剂的提纯,液体药剂的澄明度都带来了很多麻烦,在大多的情况下,一般都作为杂质除去,但现在大量的文献报道,中药鞣质是具有抗感染,止血收剑作用,大黄鞣质能抑制肠蠕动,而起止泻作用,还可降低血尿素氮,肉桂鞣质具有抗炎作用等。但中药鞣质也表现出对肝脏的损害作用,现分述如下:
