许多语言学家和哲学家认为语言和认知的发展是无意识的;语言决定论者认为不同的语言决定了人们不同的思维方式和世界观。对语言基本事实的考察告诉我们隐喻等有意识的思维活动参与了语言的建构,离开了有意识的思维活动的参与,语言很难发展成为成熟的符号系统。在某种程度上来讲,认知方式和思维方式决定了语言的形式和内容。
Many linguists and philosophers think that the development of language and cognition is unconscious; linguistic determinists think different languages determine different ways of thinking and worldview of people. The investigation of the basic facts of language tells us that conscious thinking activities such as metaphor are involved in the construction of language. Without the participation of conscious thinking activities, language can hardly develop into a mature system of signs. To some extent, the cognitive style and the way of thinking determine the form and content of the language.
