The population, supplies, concepts and the flow of information technology in the process of globalization have posed new challenges to the basic concepts of borders, ethnic groups, cultures and communities. In recent years, the influence of globalization on traditional communities has also drawn widespread attention in the international anthropology community and promoted the transformation of Chinese research paradigm in Western anthropology. In overseas Chinese studies in Southwest China, the transborder vision under globalization is gradually becoming a hot spot in the study of Southwest ethnic groups and cultures. Professor Wang Fuwen, a famous anthropologist in Australia, takes the case of “Meng” (Miao) and field investigation during the process of globalization as an example to reflect on the prevailing flow and cross-border mode in academic circles. He emphasized that rational thinking, solid fields and traditional ethnography are the basic ways for us to study ethnicity and liquidity.
