为了减小壁厚和制造较复杂的芯子而采用壳芯。壳芯目前广泛采用吹砂法,仅限于中等尺寸的芯子。为了解决用壳芯法制造重要铝合金铸件的大型壳芯的问题,苏联研制成功了芯盒尺寸为800×500×400毫米的、可以制造任何形状大型壳芯的CM—1型通用壳芯吹芯机(图1)并已用于正常生产。该壳芯机规格如下:
