敦化市是长白山区人参载培的始源地。在古代，这里的居民以采集业、鱼猎来维持生活。唐朝以后，敦化盛产的人参成为进贡的珍品。从此，敦化人参便誉满中原。随着采参业的发展，经过历代频繁的采挖，野生山参资源日趋减少，在明末清初产生了人参的种植业，设有大量的官设人参圃场，在嘉靖、道光年间，人参的栽培业得到较大的发展，并有较为系统的栽培技术。到同治年间，人参的栽培业达到空前繁荣时期，成立了较大的栽参企业。
Dunhua City is the origin of Changbai Mountain ginseng training. In ancient times, the inhabitants here lived by collecting industry and fish hunting. After the Tang Dynasty, Dunhua rich ginseng as tribute treasures. Since then, Dunhua ginseng fame full of Central Plains. With the development of mining industry, wild ginseng resources have been reduced gradually through successive excavations and dynasties, and the cultivation of ginseng has been produced in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. There are a large number of official ginseng farms set up. During Jiajing and Daoguang years, Ginseng cultivation industry has been greatly developed, and a more systematic cultivation techniques. To the Tongzhi years, cultivation of ginseng reached an unprecedented boom period, the establishment of a larger plant ginseng enterprises.
