Objective The retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), formerly known as posterior fibroplasia, is a proliferative retinopathy. It is characterized by retinal vascular dysplasia, neovascularization, fibroproliferation and retinal detachment in preterm infants that can lead to a variety of serious complications, including life-long blindness. In recent years, due to the continuous improvement of the medical level of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), the survival rate of premature children has been significantly increased. The incidence of this disease has increased significantly, and has become the main cause of childhood blindness in the world. Therefore, the early prevention and treatment of BOP should be highly valued.
