原产于南美洲亚马逊河盆地热带雨林中的巴西橡胶树,从高而恒定的温度(年平均气温为26℃~27℃,年温差在3℃以内);多而均匀的雨量(年降雨量2500毫米左右)和高湿(相对湿度达90%以上)以及较为静风条件的南纬5°左右迁移到北纬25°左右地区,向北推移达30℃,约3000公里.就我国植胶地华南四省区气候条件而言,与原产地有很大的差异,有的甚至截然不同.冬季低温造成的橡胶寒害是突出的矛盾.地处北部垦区(北纬23°36'~24°45')的我省尤其如此(年平均气温20.8~21.3℃,雨量1032.3~1723.6毫米,相对湿度78~80%).植胶24年来,遭受较大的寒害五次(即1962/63、66/67、67/68、73/74、75/76),
