一、问题的提出建筑是文化的一个组成部分,各类建筑的产生、发展和变化,在一定程度上均受当地文化的影响和制约。在一定的文化区域里,各种文化现象必然要反映这一区域里的文化特征和风格,即使该区域文化随着时代的变化而不断发展及至异变,但其本质的东西是不会消失的。这就是原型,即一种典型的反复出现的意象。我想,如果我们在研究中国古代建筑史的同时,能对各区域文化圈里的建筑原型或文化原型及其发展有所研究的话,势必会促使一部观念全新、内容丰富的中国古代建筑史问世。因而探讨区域文化与建筑的关系问题,是一项十分必要又十分有意义的工作。笔者由于多年从事湖北古代建筑的保护工作,因而选择“泛楚文化与湖北古代建筑”这一课题,试研究彼此之间关系,权作抛砖引玉。
