葡萄抗寒力不强,欧洲种葡萄根系在-5—-7℃即受冻害。北方葡萄需埋土越冬,这对进一步发展葡萄生产不利。 一九三四年苏联利用抗寒的砧木嫁接南方葡萄品种,成功地栽植到苏联中北部寒冷地区。我们一九五六年用贝达(Beta)葡萄品种做砧木嫁接的栽培品种,比同品种自根的植株减少防寒用草约3/4,埋土量少1半,生育旺盛而丰产,已在生产上推广运用。 以贝达葡萄作砧木,用以影响嫁接植株的抗寒力,对北部地区来说,抗寒力是不够的。我们设想用山林地带常见的山葡萄作砧木,嫁接苗的根系就可免除冻害,从而大量减少防寒
