Central nervous system has a blood-brain barrier, the lack of lymphatic drainage system and antigen-presenting cells and is called “immunocompetent region”, in the process of tissue transplantation and the surrounding organs have different characteristics. More and more studies have found that the brain has some limitations as an immunological site. Microglial cells and astrocytes in the brain can proliferate and activate during tissue transplantation to express MHC class II antigens and eventually cause immune rejection . This article reviews the recent findings in immunology of the central nervous system and its relationship to tissue transplantation
