In the early hours of November 23, 1936, the Kuomintang government ordered the arrest of seven gentlemen like Shen Junru, Zhang Nai-ru, Zou Ta-fen, Li Gong-pu, Wang Zhishi, Sha Qianli and Shi Liang.
