侯官严复先生,又名严宗光,字几道,是我国近代思想史上有过重要贡献和影响的人物,学术界曾对之进行了卓有成效的深入研究.但是,在某些问题上也出现了以讹传讹的疏误,笔者浅学,谨对几个问题辑录所见,以求教正.一、严复的出生年份严复出生于哪一年?一般流行的说法为1853年,当误.据严璩《侯官严先生年谱》和王蓬常《严几道年谱》载:严复于“清文宗咸丰三年十二月初十日,生于闽垣之南台.”清文宗咸丰三年,正是公元1853年,不过,人们在换算中显然是没注意到农历纪年与公元纪年间的时差,清文宗咸丰三年十二月初十日为农历的年底,换算为公元纪年不是1853年,而应为1854年1月8日.
