宁南县位于四川省凉山州彝族自治南部东侧,北与布拖、普格接壤;西与会东毗连;东以金沙江为界,与云南省巧家县隔江相望。属四川省最南端的偏僻山区小县,全县有17万人,主要由汉、彝、布依等9个民族组成。其中汉族占77%,彝族占21%。县政府驻地披砂镇,北距州府西昌129公里,南距云南巧家县城39公里,且距省府成都680公里,距云南昆明340公里,可以说交通闭塞,信息封闭。
Ningnan County is located on the eastern side of Yi Autonomous South of Liangshan Prefecture in Sichuan Province. It is bordered on the north by Bu-Tuo and Puge, on the west by East Junction, on the east by the Jinsha River and across the river from Qiaojia County in Yunnan Province. It is a small county in the remote mountainous area in the southernmost tip of Sichuan Province. The county has 170,000 people, and is mainly composed of 9 ethnic groups including Han, Yi and Bouyei. Among them, Han accounts for 77% and Yi accounts for 21%.
