This paper constructs a space general equilibrium model of two countries and three regions under the framework of the new economic geography and studies the influence of trade liberalization and regional integration on China’s economic spatial division. The results show that in a closed economy, regional integration will promote nonagricultural industries and trade between regions. Regional integration has led to regional economic differentiation rather than economic division. As a cohesive force, trade liberalization has promoted the agglomeration of non-agricultural industries in areas closer to foreign markets, and even led to the reduction of their “trade surplus” and the reduction of trade among regions, resulting in the division of China’s economic space. What needs to be pointed out is that the regional trade barriers caused by local government actions can not be the reason for China’s economic space division.
