In June 1955, continuous casting equipment for steel was put into production at the “Red Salmavo” plant named after A.Zzhidanov. This underground, double-inlet, upright, water-cooled crystallizer unit is equipped with tilting belts for conveying billet, tilting beakers and a continuous, circular recirculating water system. Smelt the steel in an open hearth furnace and pour into two ladle drums each weighing 50-55 tons. The steel in one ladle is completely cast into the two molds of the unit, while the other is cast into normal ingots in the pit. When cast on this equipment, a steel ingot (slab) with a cross-section of 175 × 420 mm is obtained for the rolled steel plate through the mold. Adapted to the volume of the ladle, ingots up to 50-55 meters can be obtained. From the mold and secondary cooling out of the area, moving steel ingot into the gas cutting machine, and cut into blank. Cross section of 175 × 550 mm and 167 × 395 mm ordinary steel
