微处理机继续向高密度高功能方向发展,32位机已问世1971年应运而生的4位微处理机,内部只有2300个晶体管,工作频率为0.4兆赫,它只能用作计算器。目前已推出的32机,内部拥有的晶体管多达4500000个,频率高达20兆赫,它已具备了浮点运算、多作业多用户处理以及虚拟存贮器这一类以往只有大型电脑才能完成的功能。从图l可以看出,近14年来,微处理机芯片的密度几乎是直线上升,这一趋势将继续发展下去。这一、二年来,高性能的32机也陆续问世,目前已宣布的型号已有10种之多,预计八十年代后期微电脑将进入32位机的新时代。
Microprocessors continue to move toward high density and high functionality. The 32-bit machine has come out with a 4-bit microcomputer that came into existence in 1971, with only 2,300 internal transistors and operating at 0.4 MHz, which can only be used as a calculator. The 32 machines that are currently available have as many as 4500,000 transistors and up to 20 MHz of internal memory and are already capable of floating-point operations, multi-tasking and multi-user processing, and virtual memory, which was previously only available in large form factors . It can be seen from Figure l, the past 14 years, the density of microprocessor chip is almost straight up, this trend will continue to develop. In the past two years, 32 high-performance machines have also come out in succession. As many as 10 models have been announced so far and the micro-computer is expected to enter a new era of 32-bit machines in the late 1980s.
