清道光九年,金乡县城南率庄率家出了个国子监生——率从益。率从益时年34岁,在国子监苦读三年,见清政府官场腐败,外国列强入侵,国运日下,苦读当官、光宗耀祖的梦想被打破,遂决心学医,以医报国。一1833年,率从益托朋友介绍拜名医何书田为师,开始学医。1837年何书田不幸去世,率从益悲痛欲绝。为师傅守孝三个月后,便离开师门周游四方救死扶伤。他一边行医一边苦读历代医书,遍求各地验方。1838年春天,率从益走到安徽东南一带,碰到从清宫负案逃出的御医王清世,又拜王御医为师。王
