The large diameter AZ61A thin-walled magnesium alloy tube was prepared by centrifugal casting process. The microstructure and mechanical properties of the thin-walled AZ61A magnesium alloy thin tube were studied. The results were compared with those of the traditional sand-solidified castings. The results show that the grains of the as-cast magnesium alloy tube have been remarkably refined. The eutectic transformation of L → α-Mg + β-Mg17Al12 under the equilibrium solidification condition is suppressed to a great extent, Mg as the main phase of the solidified structure; the overall distribution of alloying elements; mechanical properties are improved, a large number of dimples on the fracture, with quasi-cleavage fracture characteristics show that plastic has been significantly improved.
