Using benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene and xylene (BTEX) as the representatives of volatile organic compounds, using the EPA’s carcinogenic risk assessment and non-carcinogenic risk assessment models, the possible carcinogenic risks of BTEX to passengers in the aircraft cockpit and Non-carcinogenic risks were calculated. The concentration data comes from the actual test of cockpit on the 14 flights. The exposure parameters mainly come from the relevant literature for the Chinese population. Calculations for different groups of people (children, adolescents, adults and the elderly) show that the carcinogenic and non-carcinogenic risks of all populations are below the EPA’s limits.
