乡镇群众文化艺术档案是指乡镇文化艺术单位和艺术工作者在艺术创作、艺术演出、艺术教育、艺术研究、社会文化等工作和活动形成的,对国家和社会有保存价值的各种文字、图表、声像、实物等不同形式的历史记录,是宝贵的文化遗产。乡镇群众文化艺术档案与乡镇文书档案一样重要,是文化工作的重要组成部分。乡镇群众文化工作搞得最丰富、最出色,如果忽视艺术档案管理,管理缺失,那么群众文化工作就存在明显的缺陷,因为艺术档案也是群众文化工作的重要组成部分。搞好乡镇群众文化艺术档案管理,对于推动群众文化事业的发展有着十分重要的意义。
