乌鲁木齐地区各族人民,在人力、物力和技术条件相当困难的情况下,把渗漏严重、经常大涨大落的乌鲁木齐河基本治理好了。这条河流治理过程中,工程逐年增加,效益也逐年增加,现在灌溉农田的面积,已经比原先扩大了十倍多。兴修水利以后,还使原有的十五万多亩盐碱地和沼泽地得到了初步改良。在同大自然作斗争中,要使我们付出的力量取得比较理想的效果,是不容易的。治理乌鲁木齐河能够得到比较显著的效果,最根本的经验就是:稳扎稳打,逐步前进。
