金花茶是我国特产的植物,多数种类只产我国广西南部,是世界珍稀的观赏植物和种质资源,被誉为“茶族皇后”列为国家一、二级保护对象.金花茶,常纪灌木至小乔木,高达6米,树皮灰褐色,无毛.花腋生,金黄色,开花时花瓣带腊质光泽,花瓣8-11,直径5-6.5厘米,花梗长5-10毫米,蒴果扁球形或三角状扁球形,直径达5厘米,果皮厚3-5毫米,种子3-9颗,半圆形或三角状圆形,长达1.5-2.2厘米,宽1.5-1.7厘米,浅黑色或褐色,表面有毛状物.
