Interviewee: Stuart Hall Interviewer: Huang Zhuoyue Location: London, UK Date: September 12, 2006 Background: Hall (1932-), First Director, Center for Contemporary Cultural Studies (CCCS), University of Birmingham Assistant, second director, actually chaired CCCS work during 1968-1979. Birmingham school spiritual leader. Huang Zhuoyue: At present, Chinese academics are increasingly interested in cultural studies. However, due to the fact that Chinese research is a successor, there is a need for a systematic study of early cultural resources, especially resources for British cultural studies, and their resource logic Mastery. Among them, at present we are more concerned about the definition of the latter part of the British cultural studies or Birmingham School of Cultural Studies, which in fact involves a staging issue. Professor Hall’s essay “Two Paradigms” equates to the first two installments (culturalism and structuralism). The third stage we understand as “Gramsci” turn, Gramsci turn, that is, Professor Hall edited “a new era”, the British culture there is a new stage of the study?
