能够和上海越剧院所组成的中国越剧团一起工作,并在国外共同享受了他们所获得的荣誉,同时又一次深深体会并看到我国戏剧界执行毛主席的「百花齐放,推陈出新」这一英明指示所获得的令人鼓舞的成就,我感到非常荣幸和兴奋。中国越剧团曾先后访问了民主德国和苏联,同样获得了这两个国家人民的极其热情的欢迎和重视。苏联「真理报」在八月八日介绍越剧时曾这样说:
