The recently held Central Economic Work Conference put forward the overall requirements for economic work in 2004 from the strategic and overall perspectives and emphasized the important principles and major issues to be grasped in carrying out the new year’s economic work. The task of national economy and social development is of great importance. First, to further strengthen and improve macroeconomic regulation and control, give full play to the role of the market mechanism, ensure smooth macroeconomic operations and promote sustained, rapid, coordinated and healthy development of the national economy. In the past six years, we have implemented an active fiscal policy and a prudent monetary policy, playing an important role in effectively expanding demand and promoting faster economic growth. We have achieved remarkable results. However, in the face of many uncertainties in the international economic environment, it is necessary to further improve the overall supply and demand situation
